Cross-border Trade on the ONDC Network

E-commerce exports is an important driving force that holds the potential to strengthen India’s position as one of the top countries in the global cross-border trade domain.

E-commerce channels contribute approximately $5 billion to India’s total exports. The global e-commerce market stands at $800 billion and is projected to grow to $2 trillion. India aims to capture at least 10% of the estimated $2 trillion global e-commerce market and grow its e-commerce exports business to $200 billion in the next 5 years.

The government is undertaking various steps to simplify processes and boost participation from various stakeholders such as MSMEs, logistics providers, warehousing solution providers etc.

Currently, the $5 billion in e-commerce exports is contributed by closed proprietary platforms. ONDC aims to use technology to democratize this domain by enabling e-commerce companies to integrate with the network based on their unique strength, foster collaboration & innovation and help the domain evolve using technological design.
